Negotiating Return Children’s Community Mural

The 2011 Children’s Community Mural in Gdansk, Poland was commissioned by Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art and financed by The British Council and Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland and the City of Gdansk as part of the Brit-Cult Festival and was contracted for educational purposes only and not for commercial exploitation. The mural was painted by Stik in collaboration with children from the local area. In 2014 the mural was removed from its original location by a third party without the knowledge of Stik or Laznia and is now in the hands of a fourth party. Stik and Laznia are attempting to negotiate with the fourth party for the return of the mural to its original location. The Polish Authorities have been informed of the situation and are in the early stages of an investigation.
