8 – 16 Feb 2023, from 10.30am each day
Part of Imagine Children's Festival
Exhibition Space, Level 1, Royal Festival Hall
FREE, ticketed in the mornings and drop-in afternoons (see website for times)
STIK and the Southbank Centre invite children to join a free workshop and collaborate on an exclusive print edition as part of Imagine Children’s Festival. An animated series of six life-size rubber stamps hand-carved by STIK form the image for each print.
Every workshop participant (age 2 - 11) will lift one of the inked rubber stamps featuring STIK’s minimalist ‘stick man’ figures onto 100% wove hemp paper jumping, stomping and stamping to create their own unique version of the monochrome print to take home. The artworks are produced using raw, industrial materials in a human scale in reference to Brutalist principles. Each print will also be photographed to become part of an extended version of the animation currently on screens throughout the Southbank Centre. The rubber stamps will be destroyed at the end of the nine-day workshop making this a one-off opportunity for children to have fun, learn and take home their own collaborative STIK artwork.
STIK says “We are stamping our feet to make art in a fun way, it will get messy!”
STIK STAMP is free and runs 10.30am – 6.30pm daily (10.30am – 5.30pm Mon & Tue). https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whats-on/festivals-series/imagine-childrens-festival
Tickets are required for morning sessions, 10.30am – 1.30pm. You can book a free ticket online from 9am each day for morning slots on the same day.
